World Impact

Me and Oscar, the 1st Grader I tutored.

World Impact was brought into my life last year through Intervarsity.  At the time, I was feeling very convicted to become involved in serving the community, but I wasn't sure where I was meant to go.  Originally, I had signed up for world carp, but couldn't attend its meetings (Good thing too, I was told recently they are a cult!).  Also, I didn't want to join Circle K, a true community service organization, because my sister is very involved in it and I didn't want to be stepping on her turf (also, me and my other sister Heather think its a cult too.... heheh  j/k).

Anyways, I heard about World Impact through my friend, Joyce, while she was trying to help get a group big enough together to get it started.  It was required that at least five people commit to going every week, or else it wouldn't be feasible.  But that first week, we had like 9 people show up, and we have been blessed with plenty of people ever since.  We always welcome more people to help out, cause there are usually a lot of kids.  Oscar, pictured to the left, is the first grader that I usually work with.  He has a wonderful heart; most the other tutors would agree that he is the coolest kid.  On Valentines Day, he gave all the tutors stickers and shared the candy that other kids had given him earlier that day.

Not only are the kids great, but hanging out with all the different tutors is really cool.  One of the great things about World Impact is that it brings people from all different grades together to tutor, some of the only times I've gotten to meet some of the freshmen and sophomores in Intervarsity.  They are all really cool people, I wish I actually got to hang out with them more.

World Impact has been such a blessing in my life. I believe we are all called to serve in different and good ways.  I encourage you to find where you are called to help others.
