kono sora no yuku hate ni
mada mienu mirai no nami ga ari
Beyond the limits of this sky,
Flow the waves of a future we can't yet see.

ikite iru ikutsumo no unmei wo koete yuku
dare ni osowari dare ni koute iru no darou
I live right now
Passing through countless destinies,
But who is teaching me all these things,
Who am I pleading to, I wonder?

hito wa tsukiru inochi no aima ni
deau koto ni obieru ma wa nai
tatoe kyou de kono sekai ga owarou toshite itemo
kimi wo ai suru darou
People live short lives and can't afford
To be afraid of meeting other people,
So, let's say, even if the world were to end today,
I will still love you.

komorebi ga yasashikute
demo sore wa eien dewa nakute
The sunlight gently filters through the green leaves,
But this isn't something that will last forever.

afurederu kanashimi ni hoshi wa mou aoku nari [1]
kotoba mo karete tada ai dake nokoreba ii ne [2]
Amidst the overwhelming sorrow,
This planet turns pale and my words wither away [1] [2]
But it would all be fine, wouldn't it,
If love were just able to remain?

hito wa tsukiru inochi ni madowasare
toki ni hito ni tsuraku atare yo
tatoe kyou de kono sekai ga owarou toshite itemo
kimi wo mamoru darou
People live short lives and fall astray,
And, at times, bring pain to others,
So, let's say, even if the world were to end today,
I will still protect you.

kimi ni hikari wo todoketakute kimi no egao de iyashite
I want to provide you with light,
Because your smile healed me...

hito wa tsukiru inochi no aima ni
deau koto ni obieru ma wa nai
tatoe kyou de kono sekai ga owarou toshite itemo
kimi wo ai suru darou
People live short lives and can't afford
To be afraid of meeting other people,
Let's say, even if the world were to end today,
I will still love you.

Translator's Notes :
[1] The reading 'hoshi' (planet/star) is given the kanji 'chikyuu' (Earth).
[2] This line has a neat little pun. 'Karete' means 'withered', as in a dying flower or a dried-up leaf, and the word is usually not used for abstract nouns. But actually, 'kotoba' literally means, 'leaves of words' (koto = word; ba = leaf), which is why the lyricist can say it is withered (that is, 'karete').
