3.10 Bookstores
There are three major types of bookstores in Berkeley:
1. Textbook stores: ASUC, Ned's and Campus Book Exchange offer new and used textbooks that are listed in your course outline. You may sell your books back subject to the store's conditions. Please read the conditions very carefully.
2. General and specific bookstores: Cody's is the most famous independent bookstore on Telegraph Avenue. Barn and Noble's at Shattuck at Durant is the largest chain bookstore in town. Shambala on Telegraph is an excellent spiritual bookstore. Check Revolutionary Book at the orange building on Telegraph for many radical books. University of California Press Bookstore is on Bancroft Way, right across from the Gym.
3. Used Bookstores: Berkeley and its surrounding areas are famous for used bookstores. The Library bookstore on campus offers a variety of books that are withdrawn from the library collection. Moe's and Shakespeare on Telegraph are great places to buy quality used books. Pegasus on both Shattuck@Durant and Solano Avenue are great. Also check Black Oak in North Berkeley and Half Price Bookstore on Solano.
Apart from the Thai collection of books at the University Library, Chao Thai supermarket and Erawan Market also offer book rental service for many great novels, short stories, and Japanese cartoons.
