3.13 Discrimination
You may have seen this Nondiscrimination Statement buried somewhere in the brochures and booklets you've received from the Cal admissions office: The University of California, in accordance with applicable federal and state law and University policy, prohibits discrimination, including harassment, on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, medical condition (cancer-related), ancestry, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or status as a Vietnam-era veteran or special disabled veteran. This nondiscrimination policy covers admission, access, and treatment in University programs and activities.
We know that was a mouthful! It's inevitable that as you walk through Sproul plaza, our campus's central meeting place, certain clubs and organizations with their tables set up will target you with their flyers, especially if you "look" Asian for instance. Soon you'll be pros at dodging and ducking from the throng. However, serious cases where you feel you have been discriminated against may arise in any number of situations. If you feel you have been denied a resource or opportunity, been treated unfairly, or received less than what you deserve (eg. grades) because of any of the qualities outlined above, here are the people to contact:
