Survival Guide

5. Acknowledgements

It has taken just under half a year to turn this idea of making a survival guide into a finished project. To have completed the project well before the next academic year is an amazing feat; there have been occasions when it looked as if the work was going nowhere. Then the essays started coming in at the end of the semester. With the writers' already demanding academic workload, I appreciate the efforts they put into their works; this guide is a product of everyone's effort. I would like to thank p Ball for putting the project together into a readable format; p Tang for the cartoons; the writers: p Aun, p Ball, p Pitch, p Tang p Ton, p Tum and Teda; and lastly, p Aum, p Jom, p Kieng, p Manow, p Mee, p Mink, p Mon, p Pat, p Pear, p Pitch, p Ti and p Tong for the useful advice and encouragement along the way.

As I took the position as the editor of everyone's work, I must apologize for any changes that I have made and/or omitted to the works; some writers' works overlapped. I may have altered their original meanings and probably have corrected the many already-correct grammatical parts. If my changes truly misconstrue the writers' meanings or simply bother them, let me know and we will duly fix them.

As much as I would like to believe, and in spite of many people's efforts, it is clear that this survival guide is far from perfection. Indeed, it is the first version; no Thai-style guide of this kind has been done before. I could only hope that this guide will be reviewed and rewritten and improved with the objective of giving the new students guidelines about and tips on 'surviving' at UC Berkeley. As one of the writers has correctly pointed out that 'that the worst work in the world was the one without comment,' I should hope that there would be many comments and suggestions for improvement.

Finally, I hope that the incoming students will find it useful when reading through this guide. Let us know if some facts or tips here are not true or do not work. And, perhaps, to make all the writers and helpers of this project feel proud, thank us!
