|| What is the Undergraduate
Economics Association? ||
The Undergraduate Economics Association is a club for
undergraduates at Cal who are Economics majors, considering enlisting
in the major, or just interested in economics. We hope to build
up interest and camaraderie among economics undergrads, and to
provide resources which will help you get the most out of the
department's offerings.
|| How is UEA different?
||
UEA is different from the plethora of organizations because we
are the only organization on campus that is focused on economics.
Our members are not all economics majors. We have members majoring
in PEIS, business, political science, legal studies, business,
etc. However, everyone has some interest in economics and the
possibilities that it presents.

What Are Our Goals? ||
The Undergraduate Economics Association seeks to enhace the experience
of undergraduate economics students on the U.C. Berkeley campus via
pre-professional, pre-graduate, academic, and social activities. The
Association helps its members further their interests in economics and
expose them to possible future career opportunities. In addition, the
UEA promotes interactions amongst undergraduates, graduates, alumni,
faculty, and professionals through various professional receptions,
talks, educational forums and workshops. To better focus the UEA objectives,
the Association is divided into several committees composed of members
and led by appointed directors.
|| What Does UEA Offer? ||
Check out our Events page.
|| Why should I join UEA? ||
Becoming a member of UEA, you are entitled to many advantages over non-members.
We subsidize various events throughout the year for our members. Being
a member also entitles you to be added to our mailing list so that you
can be updated directly with all of the exciting events that UEA organizes. There
are also exclusive events where only members on the mailing list will
be notified (especially in the Spring, where most of the events are closed off to members only). Being a member also allows you to partake in any commitee meetings and participate in event planning. And much more!
|| How Can I Join? ||
To become a member, please fill out the membership forms that can be
downloaded online UEA Membership Form or obtained from Jenny's
office (543 Evans Hall), or received at any of our general meetings.
Turn the membership forms in along with a payment of $20 during our
general meetings or to 543 Evans Hall and you will become a lifetime
member of UEA.
|| How can I get involved? ||
UEA gives its members a unique opportunity to impact the events that
occur because members who are active can easily join one of the four
committees. The Academic Affairs committee would work closely with the
AA co-chairs in organizing study groups, professor chats on current
events, and the graduate school forum. The Professional Affairs committee
would work closely with the PA co-chairs to organize professional workshops,
forums, and office tours for our members and the campus as a whole.
The Social Committee would assist the social co-chairs in organizing
exciting socials for our members. And, the marketing committee would
assist the marketing co-chairs in implementing their marketing strategy
to spread the word about UEA. It's easy to be just a member of the club,
but the more dedication you put into the organization, the more you
will be rewarded.
|| What kind of events do you guys put on?
||
The events that occur differ from semester to semester because many
of the events are decided by the committee members (that's you!). However,
there are a few events that are put on every year. We organize the New
Major's Party for new Economics majors, we are in charge of the graduate
school forum, we organize the career options for economics majors, and
we co-sponsor the career fair with the career center.
