Academic Affairs Committee

Welcome to the Cal UEA Academic Committee. The Academic Affairs Committee strives to complement the theories and perspectives posited inside the classroom by providing outlets for discussion and exploration outside the classroom. We wish to motivate all students interested in the study of economics, and by affording them outside sources such as peer advising, we work to ensure that they have all of their academic questions answered. The committee also understands that the reputable faculty at institutions such as U.C. Berkeley can be intimidating to students; thus, our committee and the Student Learning Center on campus work together to offer academic support to all undergraduates in economics via individual, drop-in, and group tutoring. Furthermore, we hold events that expose our members to the advantages of pursuing a postbaccalaureate degree in economics. We host informative workshops and enlightening activities (such as Honors Thesis Forums) that prepare the ambitious student for the formidable process of qualifying to attend prestigious graduate programs in the nation.

Professional Affairs Committee

The Professional Affairs Committee centers around giving students as much exposure to the business world as possible. Committee members are encouraged to develop their own ideas for events and coordinate them either alone or in teams. Those seeking internships or full-time jobs should join PA because it offers them a number of opportunities to personally meet recruiters. By organizing an event or volunteering at the Internship Fair, members can have one-to-one interaction with employers. The committee meets every other Monday. Social Affairs Committee

This committee creates a friendly social environment by providing members with opportunities to interact with fellow undergraduates, graduates, faculties, alumni, and professionals through a variety of social events. Some of the coming events are student-faculty get-togethers, member parties, visits to business offices and other fieldtrips. In addition, the Social Activities Committee acts as a liaison between the UEA and other clubs and organizations.
