VIPUR ANDLEIGH

I was raised for most of my life in Concord, MA, home of Thoreau, Emerson, the Alcotts, and the Concord Grape.  I went to (Henry David) Thoreau Elementary School, Sanborn Middle School, and Concord-Carlisle High School.  I just finished school at Cal, also known as the University of California, Berkeley.  Now, I live in Cupertino, CA.

In Spring 1998, I participated in a Bhangra (yes, our dance group has a page) at the Indus Culture Show (at Zellerbach Auditorium, home of the Jeopardy College Tournament, 1998), Sunday Supper at the International House, and Sproul Plaza.  That's me in the back wearing the yellow costume (left picture).

The right picture is from a Raas (yes, we have our own page) in which I was a participant (I am the second from the right, back row).  We performed at the International House (Sunday Supper) and on Sproul Plaza for South Asian Awareness Week.

I like jazz.  I really like Miles Davis (mandatory for jazz fans), BB King, and am starting to become fond of the music of John Coltrane.  I listen to "smooth jazz" (aka "jazz lite") on 103.7 KKSF but by far the best Bay Area jazz station is 91.1 KCSM.  I also like a wide variety of classic rock, and prefer KBIG, 98.1.  Every now and then, I listen to 92.3 KSJO, 97.3, KLLC and KFOG, 104.5 and 97.7 (Note: I am a registered Fog-Head).  I listen to 95.7, 94.9 and 106.1 only when I drive.

I like sports.  As any sports fan would, I like Cal hoops and football a lot.  GO BEARS!  I love the Patriots, and perhaps under the direction of a new coach, we will win the Superbowl.  The Bruins also provide serious entertainment through the season into the playoffs, every year.  The Red Sox will break the Curse this season.  Although we lost Mo, we still have Nomar.

GO CELTICS!

This picture is dedicated to the Laker fans out there (yeah, both of you).  You have been denied the joy of championship after another (at last count, the Celts have won five more championships than the Lakers), so please enjoy this foreign picture of TRUE CHAMPIONS!

I hate the Lakers almost as much as I hate the macarena.
