Although there are many drawbacks to a large public university, there are many advantages as well.  I am a very proud student of Cal and would recommend that you take a look at these awards and other distinctions.

I had the opportunity to take many courses at Berkeley.  I have taken classes in a wide range of departments, from chemistry to statistics to peace and conflict studies.  Some of the more interesting classes I had the opportunity to take are: Sport as a Social Institution, Theories of Nonviolence, Law and Economics, Economic Development, Political Economy of Development in South Asia, Econometrics, International Political Economy (three different courses), Political Psychology, and Music of India.
