My old house is cold, my new house is hot. I am popular, and my moving meant great upheaval. Who am I?

heh. I thought the answer was you- a reference to you changing jobs, disappearing on us etc... Now, I am thinking its more like a roast chicken, taken out of fridge. Fuji-san might fit this quite nicely...

This makes me think of a meteor falling into the earth's atmosphere. Space is cold. Upon entering the atmosphere, it begins to burn up...so hot. People always wish on 'shooting stars,' As for the upheaval, the only thing I can think of is that some people put great religious value on the movment of heavenly bodies (remember Hale-Bop?). . That sounds like it might be on the right track, but perhaps a particular event is intended, with a different "new house"? How about Comet Shoemaker-Levi 9 colliding with Jupiter. That one satisfies "great upheaval" without any stretching.

It says the first place is cold. I don't think heaven would be considered cold. I'm more comfortable hot than I am cold... then again...

Did you know that some Inuit/Eskimo cultures considered the place bad people go after they die (he!!) to be very cold. So, is it any wonder that, with origins in the desert, Christians consider it hot?

I would think that the notions of hell would be reversed, Eskimos would be more used to cold temps, so they would be uncomfortable where it is hot (like hell) and vice versa for the desert folk. Guess we learn something new every day

Eskimos know and fear the cold. They did not have much experience with blistering heat, and had little cause to fear it.

I know, you are a customer service call center located in Anchorage, Alaska (where you were moved to take advantage of low salaries). Everybody was glad to see you arrive as it meant jobs in an office for people who probably would have been working at manual labor. But, along comes off-shore financial strategies. The corporate management decide that they can better fill company coffers if they move your jobs to Bombay (Mumbai ) where the operators will be paid much less than you and be given absolutely no benefits. Everybody was very upheaved when you left. Of course your popularity remained great when you arrived.

This one is very simple to answer... It is obviously ::freezer popcorn:: that he is referring to... Is this lime green obnoxious?

| According to Dante, the ninth circle of Hell is freezing cold. That is where Satan himself lives and that is where the worst sinners go in the afterlife.

Tulip ...I like that. In Florida, my uncle keeps roses and tulips. As the weather rarely freezes, he has to keep the bulbs in the freezer for at least a few weeks, or else they will not germinate later. So, that is the cold house, and a hothouse could be the greenhouse...or simply the warm soil. Great upheaval is satisfied by the growing of the flower through the soil. Oh, and popular....similar enough to poplar? As in Tulip Poplar tree?

I'm sorry, a volcano, bulbs or tulips are not the answer I had in mind... ... but thinking in terms of geology is a good idea.

Is this a hot spring. The water deep in the earth is cold (or maybe the glacial waters are frozen). Then there is some upheaval as the water travels through a geothermal area and is heated (or maybe the upheaval is the river cascading down the mountain). The water finally reaches the hot spring (or normal) bath which is very popular. There, two answers in one.
