If you have a strong accent, and it's a play on words, I'd go with an indian

Actually I didn't think of that answer. I am not sure indians made tents from squares though. But, that's not the answer.

OK, well you definitely get a tent that way but what about the squares? Don't be mislead by the subject title: it really has nothing to do with water in general other than it would flow off a tent but otherwise stand on a square.

Nope -- not even the one in f(z)(z - 1)^(-1). OOPS, that could be taken as a hint.

a paraboloid? x2+y2 Oh, and my earlier answer was about the similarity between squaws and squares, if spoken in a bad accent..

z = x^2 + y^2 holds water. You mean -z. That is, if we are talking about the usual xyz orentiation. But, that's not it either. Let me add that -z is a correct answer but not the one I am expecting.

One regular square, another turned 45 degrees, placed so the corners of the diagonal are at the two top corners of the regular. Ex: A |V| Like that, sort of.

I'd say you're a tent builder. Now that's right, but whether it's the intended answer or not -- it's probably not.

> You get a tent builder? Then I'd be a gopher -- nope. I figured the folks here that know about signal analysis or DSP would have guess the answer by now. (What I just said should give it up).

I am convolution? I haven't touched DSP in a long time, that subject interested me most but various conditions led me to astray from pursuing that field and go into microprocessors.. hmmm...
