Cool puzzle idea!

5&6 are known by the names of those colour sequences already, so are pretty straightforward!

7 is the art primary colours

Is 8 different types of Photoreceptors in the eye?

I think 9 is traffic light colours

Thoughts for 1: red, white and yellow are the colours of av cables. So maybe it has to do with that.

-------------------------
EDIT: Additional guesses/comments.

For 8, I was thinking of them as colour ranges, rather than as colour pairs.  If they are pairs of colours, then these are 'opposite' colours

10 seems like Different colours of electrical wires.

8). In the color theory the number 8 colors are known as the complementary colors. They are located diametrically opposing each other (pair-wise, as given) on the color wheel.

10). Except for (I think) Brown the colors in the number 10 match the US Homeland Security color coded alerts system.

[edit]
Fixed the complementary spelling as per dudiobugtron's observation.

Is 1) something like colours which represent different races, according to the Christian bible (or similar)? I don't know the exact details, but I remember Noah's sons had different types of people descended from them, according to the bible story.

Good guess, but think of places.

For 1 or 3 I was thinking the geographic directions - North, South, East, West.

Now I see that 1 are the colors of the human races?

That eliminates 1 from the race and 3 then must be geographic directions. I've checked two of my compasses and the color Red is associated with North, Black with South - the hands are painted in two different colors.

Unfortunately I don't watch TV so I guess I am out with 10.

In 2 and 4 I see patterns.

In 2 Yellow is a marker and the rest of the colors are the same, permuted: in the second group Red/Green and Orange/White are swapped. Red is one extra in the first group.

Idea - Morse code-like flags used to communicate between the ships in the Navy?

There's an obvious pairing between geographic directions and races - Native Americans are "red"; Asians "yellow"; Africans "black"; Northern Europeans "white".

11 are the colours produced by the 3(4) bit RGB colour scheme used by machines like the BBC Micro. In the 4-bit version, colours 8-15 repeated 0-7 but flashing - alternating with the opposite colour - so, colour 11 and colour 12 both flashed yellow and blue but in antiphase.
