Maybe it helps to try [hide]to figure out "the panda's dream" first and then relate the numbers in the riddle to your guess at the dream[/hide].

My post is a riddle, the answer to which would demonstrate that I figured out Speaker's riddle. And I believe his reply indicates he solved my riddle.
As a hint, this one is more in line with the clues you get when you solve a Cryptic Crossword. You have to think in terms of homophones and anagrams and deceptive instructions about how to put the parts of the clue together.
For a big hint: [hide]
Sounds like "you"
"see"
"us play" mixed around
with a "tea" added in the middle
[/hide]

I thought so, but I didn't see in which way. Mostly for the reason that you completely changed the "code", I think.

Well, to tell you the truth, I am still in the dark. Does KO stand for [hide]knockoff[/hide]? I also thought of [hide]opium because all I can think of is this movie I once saw with a bear getting high after eating all the flowers[/hide]. Is any of this close? I don't know, what do bears dream of-[hide]honey?-that goes with tea, but where do the numbers come in?[/hide]

The TAKE NO KO clue is a word in Japanese. I figure it is obscure, but nowadays a lot of Japanese has entered the popular lexicon.

Winnie the Pooh, a decidedly Western bear dreams of honey. These panda bears dream of something different, less fattening.

The connection between tea and the dream is different.

Pandas and Koalas are both bears and they share another attribute, which is rather unusual for bears.

No, Koalas are a type of marsupial, not a bear - despite the resemblance. The "bear-ness" of pandas is a subject of much debate. Last I heard, there was disagreement over whether they should be grouped with bears, with raccoons, or given their own unique category.

Okay. I agree completely. I was going to say that they are both alike in their non-bearness, but figured that was just going to be more mis-leading. I knew that koalas were not bears, and am aware of the unusual aspects of pandas.

I get the answer, but while it connects to the riddle, it doesn't fit with the big hint from visitor. I'm very positive about the answer, though. I thhink I'm just slow about the hint.

Mistysakura, visitor's first post aims at the [hide]koala equivalent of the answer to Speaker's riddle[/hide].
Regarding his big hint about how to decipher his post: [hide]You have to take some parts literally while interpreting others based on phonetics. Oh, and the "tea" isn't exactly in the middle[/hide].

Alright, since I still don't have a clue I'm going to ask a few questions:
The attributes I know of are [hide]tails are in short supply, they like to eat leaves, and I know koalas climb trees but I'm not sure about Pandas-they are kind of huge aren't they? And what about their markings?[/hide]
Geez, I think I'm going to have to find an encyclopedia to figure this one out.

Yes, especially the females....Well I did my research Speaker, found a nice site at the San Diego zoo and I'm guessing (again) that the panda's dream is of [hide]bamboo[/hide].

I can see this is an old one, but I am stumped with it now. I know [hide]koalas eat eucalyptus, and I think that is the answer to visitor's riddle[/hide].But what about pandas? What do pandas and koalas have in common? :P

You are exactly on the right track, as you follow it through the forest you may see a panda, and you will probably see the answer also, unless the trees get in the way. ;)
