women and puzzles

I find very less female members in this site...or any technical site for that matter..
Are women averse to solving puzzles and programming? or is it they are so smart that they know all the answers and don't need any forum..

I find the same thing on most non-technical forums as well.
Possibly this form of communication simply draws more men.

I don't think that it's anything to do with using forums, I know of many which attract more female members. I suppose we generally have what are considered "more important" things to do, hence the reason I'm still a newbe. (though credit goes to you guys who will stop at nothing to solve a riddle)

There could be some argument along the lines of the difference in masculine and feminine psychology, that masculine minds are more interested in logic/mathematical problems, while feminine minds are more interested in more linguistic problems, or something like that.
I use the terms "masculine" and "feminine" as relating to social concepts of what is typical for men and women respectively. While men will generally have a more masculine mindset, and women will generally have a more feminine mindset, it is not a perfect correlation. Also, this is mostly based on some semi-random thinking, rather than backe up with hard evidence, so I could be entirely wrong...

And then there are some of us who are good at both I loved math and science but I also greatly enjoyed the abstract freedom in English class, etc. the fun part about that was symbolism for me because as long as you have a logical explaination for what you think the author was trying to say... you're right and no one can disprove you

Well there's something new LOL... but I know what you mean.
I am in agreement with Aurora... you won't see many women on this site but if you go to something like Cosmo, etc where the topic revolves around all things female you will find tons of them... another thing women tend to gather around are the cheesy online pet games like Neopets, etc (yes... I know it is horribly corny especially if you are over 15... >.<) you will find a lot of kids but you will find quite a few adult women mixed in...
