Title: Saying hello and testing hide tags
Post by harpanet on Mar 9th, 2003, 7:18am
Been around for about a month. Gotta say I love this board and there are quite a few very knowledgeable people about.

Main reason for this post however is to test the hide tags. Would hate to post a spoiler in full view and ruin things for everyone else  :-[
here goes:[hide]This text should be hidden.[/hide]

Ah, now that is interesting. The [ hide ] tag works, but not in preview.

I hope the sound of my post didn't wake you up  ;D. You have a nice sleep.

Actually, it's kind of nice that the hide tags don't work in preview. That way you don't have to highlight the text to see it. I figure as long at I don't see the actual tags, I've got them right.

A bit more troublesome is that they don't work with the "last 10 posts" feature.

Anybody know why my little icon doesn't work? It's within the size limit, I did remember to check the "I have my own picture" box, or whatever it is. I should have a little dancing coconut dude. The URL I supplied is http://geocities.com/milbnergrophone1/coco_danc.gif, which shows it fine when typed into my address bar. Any ideas?

you can't link to images on geocities, they'll only let you refer to html-pages. That's to avoid getting used as an image-server.

I saved the desired image into my server's directory and modified your profile to display the image. It looks like some of the frames in your animated GIF have unwanted transparent pixels which produce the dusty noise you see in the animation. If you like, I think I can fix this for you too -- but only ask me if you don't know how to do it yourself, since it will take a little time :)

That would be great, thanks, William. If you don't mind the time. I had enough trouble just trying to figure out how to get my name in the corner!  ;)
Is it a bit late to be saying this? I'm afraid my internet has been down for a while...
It's odd, though... that noise isn't on the original picture - copy/paste the URL to the address bar and you'll see, it's quite clean. So, where did the offending pixels come from, I wonder?

The offending pixels are transparent; thus the dust you see is actually the gray color of the forum peering through those holes. When you put the image URL in the address bar, you see a nice image because the default browser background is white, and white on white doesn't show.

I'm getting tired of staring at my problem sets, so, maybe I'll work on your image :)

9:52 PM: ugh I ran into unexpected difficulties. going to take out my aggression with video games

Hi, don't mean to wake anyone up,
also testing the hide tags.

[hideb]Got here through Gurmeet's site, lurking at the moment, looking for nice puzzles to entertain the mind in the sweet morning minutes before getting up. Wishing you all a beautiful day. [/hideb]
