Kasparov and Karpov, faced off this week in a 12-game tournament in Valencia, Spain

Article: Kasparov and Karpov in chess duel

Russians are good at chess because the Soviets subsidized the game ... It became a national pastime when Bolsheviks took power in 1917, and yet, one can appreciate the irony of playing with imperialist symbols like kings and queens.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of chesslodge.com before. It has some very useful annotations, and not too heavy either.

There are also many unusual chess problems on this site, eg. this one.

Search for 'Chess' in Easy and Medium (for the Subject only); last 2365 days and 250 hits.

For informed discussions of computer chess I recommend the Rybka forum, much better than the spammy Usenet forum somebody recently mentioned in another thread.

Yeah, that's a good forum. I like it.

I used to play Online at www.letsplaychess.com

I had to stop chess because I spent too much time studying chess theory and playing and less time on my studies ... my grades in math suffered.

Kingscrusher plays online letsplaychess.com

And he posted on YouTube the 2009 Kasparov Karpov rapid chess games
