youtube related videos feature algorithm

Hi
Does any one know how Related Videos feature works in Youtube, I know it is not released publicly. I just wanted to start a discussion here to know how ppl in this forum think about it.
There are some great features I noticed:
I was watching a song in Language X. there was one related video(a song in Language Y) which is similar to that song I was watching in Language X. By similar I mean lyrics. There were no other similarities in Name of the video or comments.
How do you think Youtube handles this. definitely they cant use lyrics !!!

Did you check the video tags?
Also, (IANFYT) a very frequent technique is to query for the given video on search and take the top k results and analyze those. Then search for those results in the youtube video index. Then have some decent ranking function to rank these videos. The ranking function could potentially be a mix of features like description, title, tags etc.

You can also relate videos by looking at what videos are watched by the same people. Especially if it's something they searched for around the same time.
Most of the time, though, I have no idea what the hell they're thinking with "related" videos, as there isn't any relation I can see. But that's the same for all recommendation systems.

The most common technique used for recommendation system is Collaborative filtering

though I am not sure whether you tube uses this
technique for "related video", it is fun to know the
general idea of Collaborative filtering.
btw, if you want to dive into it, you can check out
NetFlix prize competition.
