Robots Smarter than Us.
This is not a traditional question but an FYI that you will find interesting.
In today's (February 24, 2014) "New York Post" on page 3 we find a short article titled "Robots smarter than us".
It states that according to Mr. Ray Kurzweil's fearless prediction in 15 years, by 2029, robots will be:
- smarter than people who build them;
- holding conversations with people;
- learning from experience;
- understanding human behavior better than humans;
- flirting;
Being a C programmer I don't like the prospect of getting replaced by a machine. Oh, well. I guess I have to start practicing my job interview with a machine so that I can fool it into "thinking" that I am a machine also, not a human.
P.S.
If machines will get so smart how will they know that they are flirting with a human and not another machine?

I suppose it's commendable he's only adjusted his prediction by a year since last time I've seen him make it (and that that was more than a year ago). But I doubt it will come true.
And seriously, if robots are gonna be so smart in 2029, why do we still have to build them; why don't they build themselves?

Are you sure?
I can't think of much entertainment that comes from computers; a lot comes by computer, but it's still from people. What entertains people are mostly stories, whether it's fiction or gossip or non-fiction; books, sit-coms, dramas, reality-tv, youtube, vlogs, blogs, movies, computer games (in as far as they depend on plot and creative input), live-streamed video-game feeds with player commentary, etc.
Computers still suck at writing compelling stories. And until they can do that, I don't see them take over entertainment.

Are you sure?
At least on the internet, a lot of entertainment is recommended by algorithms. Video on Netflix (probably also youtube ?), books on amazon, anything via search. They may not generate much of the actual content, but they potentially have a lot of influence on what reaches people.

Actually, I wouldn't be at all surprised if robots could do IVF.
And soon we (and robots) will be (technically) able to replicate a whole genome and replace a cells DNA with it. And one day we'll be able to build the whole cell. And then robots (and we) will be able to build a human from scratch. Technically.
