Title: Google questions?
Post by markss on Oct 6th, 2004, 5:46pm
I have a technical phone interview coming up at Google. Has anybody here interviewed at Google before? What questions do they ask? I really want to be prepared! :)

Also, how do I prepare? Do any of you have recommendations for books? I'm pretty nervous.  ::)

I've already looked at the GLAT (Google Labs Aptitude Test?).

Hello,

So far I know they ask almost anything. For example, population of USA, height of Mount Everest, etc...

Just relax and enjoy the interview.

Best regards

HI ! Google asked question in telephonic Interview as Below :

How to enable debug information
Where is the log file?
Another party hears echo
What headset can you recommend?
How to send tone signals
Why sending tone signals isn’t working?

I hope it will help in Preparation for Interview.

One of my friend's been interviewed at Google India. What my friend said: They first of all looking straight at my eyes for about 15 to 20 seconds, even I've done the same (I didn't notice that they've already started testing me). Obviously this is not a question but a first round of interview (they told me at the end of the interview). They wanted to see how straight forward I'm.

They will try everything new, may be not all the time but most of the times.

the biggest thing is to just convey to them that you have great teamwork skills, as that will be one of the most important things in a hiring managers eyes.

Google likes to ask strange articles. For example how many balls would fit in a bus?

I don't know the reason for such questions, I just guess that they check how do you feel in uncomfortable situations.

Nice gig man, and dw you'll do great (:, but they'll probably ask general questions about algorithms, data structures and how google actually works.

Good luck!

Does anyone know the answer to this, because it'll bug me forever if I don't know?

It depends on the size of the bus, obviously. And the size of the balls. But suppose a bus fits 60 people, than you can be sure it fits at least 120 balls. (Sorry.)

http://www.businessinsider.com/answers-to-15-google-interview-questions-that-will-make-you-feel-stupid-2009-11?op=1 tackles this and other questions, it suggest a number of  500,000 golf balls for a school-bus.

[e]I don't believe they have the correct answer to all the problems. (For ones where there is a correct one)[/e]

i think it's depending on your post.

but here are some suggestion:

How many golf balls can fit in a school bus?

How much should you charge to wash all the windows in Seattle?

In a country in which people only want boys

Why are manhole covers round?

How many piano tuners are there in the entire world?

How many times a day does a clock’s hands overlap?

A man pushed his car to a hotel and lost his fortune. What happened?
