I always go to work by train and play this simple game. In Holland most carriage-numbers consist of four digits. Using all four digits and the 'math tools' mentioned below I try to get to 24. It doesn't matter how often I use a tool.
+ - * / ( )
example: 4253 ----> (5+4+3)*2 = 24
This morning I encountered the most challenging one so far. Although it's not a very difficult puzzle, I'd like to share it with you.

where A,B,C,D are 3,3,8 and 8 in some order (6 possible assignments) and x,y,z are each one of the four basic arithmetic operators (64 possibilities), though there are obviously going to be some duplications because of the associativity of various operations.
