Title: Re: 3 coins on a line Post by redPEPPER on Jan 25th, 2003, 1:03pm I got something but I don't know if it fits: [hide] Add a coin on the top row, between the two top coins. Pile the other coin on the middle coin. This way you have a square with one "open" side (the bottom side). The three remaining sides have three coins each, and from the center to the other 7 coins you can draw 7 segments of three coins each. But these would be segments, not really lines. The lines would actually contain 4 coins so I don't know if that fits the riddle.[/hide] Edit: Just saw Yvee's solution. Probably fits better than mine. I actually thought about something like that but I forgot to count two lines and discarded it. Funny how I needed to see it posted by someone else to find the remaining lines. |
