I had this riddle since 4th or 5th grade from scholastic news.
I'll try to remember it...(since I cannot find it)
-A farmer had 9 cows...He wanted to put this cows in pins of 4...(and only 4 pins)So how many cows go in each pin?(I don't think you can cut the cow in half... ;D...so what do I do?)

If I am understanding you, you want nine cows to fit into four pens with four cows in each pen.

answer:[hide]If this is the case, the answer is in how you arrange the pens. Make them into a square, but so that they overlap. So, if the pens are arranged:

A B
C D

Pen A overlaps with C and B, and D overlaps with C and B. In the middle all four overlap. Now put one cow into each of the sections you have created. Looking at just the upper left pen (A) you will see you have one cow in pen A alone, one in the combo of A and B, one in the combo of A and C, and one in the middle in pens A,B,C,and D. You don't even have to chop up any poor bovines.[/hide]

Oh, and you will get more replied if you put new riddles into one of the riddle forums, this one would fit well into easy.
