The simplest I find is [hide] (888-88)/.8 [/hide].

Decimal .8 is not allowed because it assumes there is a leading zero (0.8)  :(

It depends if the constraint lists the operations you can use or the symbols you can use.
Same for the numbers.  Do the 8's refer to digits or numbers?

The constraint refers to operations allowed. Exponents are allowed, provided they result as a combination of eights.
