Title: What a Meshhh! Post by rloginunix on May 7th, 2015, 7:31pm What a Meshhh! The number of teeth on each gear is marked right next to it: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/YaBBAttachments/rlu_wam.png If the gear G1 makes one full revolution clockwise then how many revolutions will the gear G2 make? |

Title: Re: What a Meshhh! Post by SMQ on May 8th, 2015, 5:25am My first thought was that since all the gears on are on separate axles [hide]the intervening ratios don't matter; 21/7 = 3/1[/hide] and so G2 will make [hide]three[/hide] revoloutions for every one of G1. Then I noticed [hide]there are an odd number of gears in[/hide] the loop containing G2 and so [hide]it is frozen and none of the gears can turn at all[/hide]! --SMQ |
