Assume that your PC has a 3Gz CPU and you are you sitting about 1 metre from it and somehow able to see what is going on in the chip. What you will see is not what has just happened but what happened 10 clock cycles ago! If you were at the other side of the room (10 metres away, say) you could see only what happened 100 clock cycles ago, etc. You couldn't even stop the program telepathically until 100 cycles later.
