Why would knowing that the flag of the USA has thriteen stripes make a South African (or anyone for that matter) a genius, Or even bring him/her an inch closer.. Surely they're not that daft at mensa. Must've been someone else to attach their name to it.. And three times it comes down to knowing how many books are in (parts of) the bible.. Weeee, being a Christian really pays of if you want to be a genius. Better by default. Archimedes wouldn't have gotten any of these.. He couldn't write english :P |

Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by Barukh on Mar 31st, 2005, 8:42am Nevermind. Putting aside all these useless discussions about what constitutes a genius, how many sentences are you able to decypher? I made 17 so far (13 Strips not included - silly me, I didn't know that). Only now I realize how stupid I am! :( |

Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by SMQ on Mar 31st, 2005, 9:10am I got all 33 on the first quiz (helps to have seen something similar a few years back), and, so far, 18 of 20 on the first "alixtended questionaire." Haven't looked at the second alixtended yet... --SMQ |

Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by Icarus on Apr 1st, 2005, 6:07pm I too have seen this before, but my memory is not so good. I can only get 22 right now. I will point out, though, that the last one in the original puzzle has a grammatical error in the form of the answer he wants. Problematic when it expects you to answer exactly! |
||||
Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by Icarus on Apr 1st, 2005, 6:48pm Ha! Just got 18 H on a G C! My genius status is assured! I also just got 90 D in a R A - particularly embarrassing for some one like me to have not recognized it earlier! And a couple more (obviously I should of started this reply earlier - just typing it out is causing me to recognize them)! (Just for the record. I strongly doubt that MENSA had anything to do with this. For starters, I think they would not make thy grammatical error I mentioned above.) The ones I still am unsure of: 5 T on an F 3 W on a T 13 L in a B D 9 L of a C 23 P of C in the H B 64 Sides on a C B 6 B to an O in C |
||||
Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by asterex on Apr 1st, 2005, 7:34pm 5 T on an F and 5 F on a H 3 W on a T and 2 W on a B 13 L in a B D and 12 D in a G (but not 12 B D) 9 L of a C which has nothing to do with a C o' 9 T 64 S on a C B and and 9 S in T T T 6 B to on O in C and 6 O to an I in B 23 P of C in the H B (I didn't know there were 23 of them, and I'm kind of an expert on the subject, but I could tell you about the 4 S of the S in a P of C) |

I'm guessing someone's spelling is wrong, as I think it's: [hide]32 is the Temperature in Degrees Farenheit at which Water Freezes[/hide]. Maybe someone could suggest where I'm going wrong... Title: Re: MENSA Cryptic Questionnaire Post by Sir Col on Jun 6th, 2005, 4:05pm It seems that I'm one off being a genius! ::) I'm not one for whining, but here are four really easy ones. Remember it's not living in the UK that helps, its figuring out what they mean cryptically speaking. By the way I got all 4! 20 T in the P 5 C on T T 646 S in the H of C 21 S in a G Rating: 0-1 = you're still learning multiplication tables and you're hoping to finish your first reading book real soon 2 = there isn't a two letter word that you cannot spell - forwards and backwards! 3 = you know what all those cool buttons do on a calculator 4 = off the scale genius; we are not worthy! |
