ok my friend gave my this riddle to find the next number and i am puzzled

2,7,1,8,2,1,8,?

Are you sure the sequence isn't 2,7,1,8,2,8,1,8 ?

If so, then it continues

2,8,4,5,9,0,4,5,2,3,5,3,6,0,2,8,7,4...
