Title: Pascal riddle -  help me get the girl
Post by haquea on Feb 12th, 2007, 9:30am
please help me, i need to crack this code to get to the girl of my dreams..this is no joke. I have spent hours on this.  the clue is ...

Luxuria Gula Avaritia Acedia Ira Invidia Superbia...
65 67 83 5567898 9 000 T=0 Pascal, Blaise

The above is all i have, apparent T=0 might have soemthing to do with time , and the seven deadly sins in latin dont really help you with the code unti you have already cracked it .

A met a girl online and she has set me a series of treasure hunts in order to get to her!!!!

What sort of thing might we expect the code to lead to, should we get a place name? GPS coordinates? A URL?

The code for a chastity belt?

I believe it leads to a password to an email account, where i pick up the next clue .
the answer may have something to do with the seven deadly sins .

i did some more digging...and im thinking cartesian coordinate, T=0 may or may not refer to meridain line  ?!?

'Lust' obviously being the first.

Anyway, the sample you give is rather short.

that is thew clue in its entirety . I have been told not to focus on the latin words for the 7 sins, they willl make sense once the code is decipehered, the code itself is some mathematical orientated solution to a time reference  ???

65 67 83 could be ASCII, that would be "ACS".

T=0 Pascal, Blaise
could be the birth date of Blaise Pascal, June 19, 1623.

Just some random ideas.

i like the idea of t=o is birthdate , the numbers i have been told correspond to a time ?????

T=O in a rebus could mean: substitute T by O.
For instance TRIANGLE -> ORIANGLE.
Unfortunately there is no such thing.

T= 0 not O
is the problem that difficult ..surely one of you guys can solve this in minutes  ?

Yeah, but sometimes it starts as a simple riddle and you end up being chased by an albino monk.

Anyone see any significance in the number of digits in each number - 2, 2, 2, 7, 1, 3?

I was thinking the 7-digit number could be seconds (it works out to 64 days, 10 hours, 38 minutes and 18 seconds) but don't see where the other numbers come in.

Haven't even thought about the seven deadly sins, either, but I'll take her word for it that they aren't relevant yet.

Just a thought that probably goes nowhere, but it may be referring to "Pascal's Wager" in some way.

However, I tend not to be very good at cracking codes, or making sense out of lists of numbers...

I'd think Pascal's Triangle is a more likely reference than Pascal's Wager, but a pattern in the numbers is not evident to me.

My guess 65, 67, 83 could actually be a hint to a sequence and it is possible that 5567898 is a part of that sequence.

I entered 65, 67, 83 into OEIS and there was exactly one sequence that had 65 67 and 83 coming one after another.

The sequence is,
Numbers n such that n, n+2, n+4 and n+6 are square-free.

I checked whether 5567898 is square free and interestingly it turned out that it is square free. Also, the numbers 5567900 5567902 and 5567904 turned out to be square free. This means that this number definitely belongs to the above sequence.

I was wondering what could she possibly want us to decipher out of this. My guess is that she might want to actually locate the position of this number in the above sequence. Its a long shot though.

[edit]5567900 and 5567904 arent square free[/edit]

And some people wonder why smart girls tend to end up single?  :-/

Continuing from my last post,
We saw that 5567898 does not belong to the aforementioned sequence but 5567899 belongs to that sequence. I wonder if it had any correlation with the 9 following 5567898 in the given code.

Also, I wonder T = 0 is simply a substitution for -273. Though, if this is the case, the mention of the name Lord Kelvin would have been more apt instead of Pascal, but maybe it was done so to obscure the code.

P.S -> I guess its about time I started hunting for my goose.

I have searched words with the pattern 5567898.
Unfortunately, not many start with a double letter.
But many words contain this pattern.  For instance, it matches rriculu, which is curriculum without cum.  :-/

Just show you I am searching.

I have the answer , kind of,  its T= 1hr 33 min
Anyone got any ideas how we get to it ?

No ideas, but please post more clues as you get them -- I've been racking my brain for a while on this one.

Hey haquea -
Always up for helping love blossom.  Have you already answered any previous puzzles to get to this stage, or is this a one shot deal (I'm hoping you can give us some previous puzzles to see her tendencies...)?
Anyways, I'll do my best to help.
