a person is sitting inside a wooden boat in the center of a water pool. that person holds a perfectly rounded ball of solid led (no air gaps) weighing 10 Kg. then he picks up the led ball and drops it into the water. will the water level rise, drop or remain the same and why ?

This is like the "Anchor" puzzle under Easy - it's a good one. I can't find the discussion thread for that puzzle anymore though. It's a question of how much water the lead ball displaces while in the boat, and while in the water.

What I want to know is who led the ball, and where did they lead it to? Perhaps they led it astray!

While in the boat the lead ball displaces its weight in water, when in the water it displaces its volume in water. Since lead has a density greater than water the water level will drop.. (It displaces less water when in the water than when in the boat) If you have an anchor the answer depends on wheter the anchor hits the bottom, or is still hanging from the boat..

Ah, I think I didn't set my search period back far enough. I didn't realize that thread was from over 3 months ago! Is there a way to change the default search period from the last 7 days to something like 365 days?
