Title: MED: Punctuation Post by Rob on Jul 25th, 2002, 5:10pm Add punctuation to the following phrase to make something gramatically and logically coherent: is is not not not is not is is is is not is not is it not 'is' is not 'not'. 'Not' is not 'is'. 'Is' is 'is'; 'Not' is 'not'. is it not? Best I could come up with, lemme know. |

Title: Re: MED: Punctuation Post by Brett Danaher on Jul 31st, 2002, 6:37am Here's an interesting alternative... Mine is a bit more Shakespearean, is it not? Ha - not it is. Anyway, here's my solution. is ‘is not’ not ‘not is’? 'not is' is. ‘is’ is not ‘is not’, is it not? Actually, the last question there might be a little funny, since usually when you ask "is it not?" you are trying to confirm a positive statement, not a negative one. But it basically works. |

Title: Re: MED: Punctuation Post by HappyMeal on Aug 9th, 2002, 5:02am I kinda took the same route as brett so mine doesn't make as much sense as Rob's, but here it is: Is "is not" not "not is?" "Not is" is "is"; "is not" is "not," is it not? I cheated in that everything in quotes I pretended to be a noun of some sort, which could be reworded like, Is Brad not Steve? Steve is short; Brad is tall, is [he] not? |

Title: Re: MED: Punctuation Post by Mongolian_Beef on Aug 13th, 2002, 9:48pm Is is not not. Not is not is. Is is is. Not is not. Is it not? |

Title: Re: MED: Punctuation Post by Mongolian_Beef on Aug 13th, 2002, 9:50pm or to be more gramatically annoying. "Is" is not "not." "Not" is not "is." "Is" is "is." "Not" is "not." Is it not? |

Maximal cheating would be this: "is is not not not is not is is is" is not "is not is it not" :) |

Title: Re: MED: Punctuation Post by Robert Grimsley on Aug 30th, 2002, 1:14pm Similar question: Punctuate the following: it's over over over over over over over over over over Answer below (scroll down) . . . . . . . . . . . It's a conversation between 2 people on a walkie-talkie or similar device where the protocol is to end each message with the word 'over'. 2 people who had been dating are breaking up. One party can't believe it, and asks for 2 confirmations: Girl: "It's over. Over." Guy: "Over? Over." Girl: "Over! Over." Guy: "Over?? Over." Girl: "Over!! Over." |
