Title: Dominoes on a chessboard Post by jeremiahsmith on Jul 28th, 2002, 12:43am It can't be done. You would need 31 dominoes to cover 62 squares, since each domino covers two squares. The way a chessboard is set up, each domino will cover one white square and one black square. So, you would need 31 squares of each color. But, the squares in opposite corners are the same. Thus, there's 30 of one color and 32 of the other. So, it can't be done. |
