Title: How many times?

Complete the following sentence, so it will be true. There are two correct answers (don't count the numbers in this "introduction").

In this sentence, the digit 0 is written __ times, the digit 1 __ times, the digit 2 __ times, the digit 3 __ times, the digit 4 __ times, the digit 5 __ times, the digit 6 __ times, the digit 7 __ times, the digit 8 __ times and the digit 9 __ times.

If you use the word 'one' in each of the blank spaces then that might do it, although 'one times' is not grammatically correct.

BTW. does the use of the word 'times' actually imply that each digit occurs at least twice?

1. "one" in each blank is wrong -- because then "1" does not appear 1 time.

2. Please consider "times" as either "time" or "times" as required by grammar.

But the puzzle refers to the 'the digit' x. 'one' isn't the digit '1' (according to my interpretation). I know that wasn't what you intended to be a solution. The bit about times vs time was the important bit, ta.

This is one of the answers:

In this sentence, the digit 0 is written 1 times, the digit 1 11 times, the digit 2 2 times, the digit 3 1 times, the digit 4 1 times, the digit 5 1 times, the digit 6 1 times, the digit 7 1 times, the digit 8 1 times and the digit 9 1 times

I'm quite pleased with this as I managed to figure it out in my head, without any visual aids, while in bed and not able to sleep.

I came up with:
[hide] 0/1; 1/7; 2/3; 3/2; 4/1; 5/1; 6/1; 7/2; 8/1; 9/1 [/hide]
