Title: Larger Typing Space
Post by Sameer on Sep 17th, 2007, 11:30pm
I noticed in some post there was script out there (like the one by SMQ for math symbols) to widen or enlarge the typing space. Is it located somewhere that I can install? Thanks!!

If you have Greasemonkey, you can try [link=http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/10140]textarea_drag_resize[/link], which works pretty well.  Otherwise, there's a [link=http://www.themaninblue.com/experiment/FormTextResizer/]bookmarklet[/link] which is similar (you bookmark the javascript link, and then run it on demand).

I actually thought of including it in the math symbols script, but didn't get around to it.  I'll take another look at adding it.

Would people just like the textarea wider, or taller as well?

Yes, but only for Uberpuzzlers.  What's the point of being Uberpuzzler if you don't have some privileges?  ;)

Just joking.

If you can do that, feel free to double the width.

Done.  Version 1.2 (http://www.dwarfrune.com/~smq/wu/wu_symbols.user.js) of the script is now available which automatically resizes the input textarea to 40px less than the table width, and lengthens it so that the posting block (from Subject: through the Post/Preview/Reset) takes up 3/4 of the screen height.  It will never resize the textarea to be smaller than its default dimensions.
