Text sometimes mysteriously disappears in several of my Word documents, usually after copy/paste. Also, letters of a sentence sometimes enlarge by themselves just for a second, and Search sometimes doesn’t find a word I am looking for even though it is there. And when I use Save As and create a new file, this new file has a different Size as well as Size on disk. For instance, the original file has 90 kb, and the new file, which is supposed to be identical, has 73 kb. After I reinstalled Microsoft Word, all the copies of the corrupted file suddenly had identical Size on disk, even though Sizes were still all different. As for the original corrupted file, its Size on disk had about 10 more kb. Before and after the reinstallation, I compared the files, which were all supposed to be identical, by counting how many words they have, and interestingly enough, they all had the same number of words. Next I decided to save one of the newly created files as a Web Page, and then I opened this Web Page in Word and saved it back as Word Document. This new file, in which I will work, has about 60 kb, even though the original file has about 90 kb. I sure hope that solved the problem, because it is an unpleasant experience when you write about 20 pages of fantasy, and then find out that some sentences disappeared. Maybe someone here had a similar problem and, perhaps, he/she has a working solution..

Word is magic, and like all magic has unexplainable behaviour :P So my solution would be to use something else.

There is a lot of information in word documents that you can't see, like markup that cancels out, (hidden) comments, undo-history, etc.

I have observed similar issues mostly when the version of MS-Office is changed.
The many elements of formatting gets changed in word. >:(
