need help immediately in solving this riddle!!

You went to the store and bought three apples. You play the clerk and put the apples in the a bag and left the store. As you're walking to your car, you meet up with three of your friends. They all are very hungry. So you want to give each of your friends an apple but still have one left in the bag. How will you do this?

I'm also wondering how you "play the clerk". I know some composers have used some very strange instruments in recent compositions, but one would have thought a clerk would be capable of playing him/herself.
In terms of the riddle, however, you don't have the bag with you at the end...

Perhaps, so you can learn a lesson in patience, Melody Spring, we should have posted one letter of the answer per day? 
Okay, here's an extension of the clue from Three Hands...
You take one apple out of the bag and give it to your first friend.
You take a second apple out of the bag and give it you your second friend.
As you have no need of an empty bag...

sorry, "play" was a typo. it should've been "paid"
and sorry to be so urgent with this, but i do need it to be solved immediately, for personal reasons. thanks in advance for those with kind words and are willing to help

Although not entirely explicit, the answer has already been given, Melody.
Read my hints (in my previous post), and ask yourself, "What would I do if I had one apple left in a bag and I wanted to give the apple to my friend; would I bother taking the apple out of the bag?"

Another solution comes to my mind.
You give one apple to friend 1.
You give friend 1 to friend 2.
You give friend 2 to friend 3.
You keep the bag because you still have 2 apples.

Cuts down on the number of friends asking you for apples though, I guess
