This riddle takes place in the fantasy world called Lemelin. It is called that way because Lem is the constellation in the shape of a dragon and Elin is the brightest star.
Damanak is a kingdom of men and a big trading center, where the only money is leaves of Pontil trees. The leaves fall when the moon is full, and they have magic property which preserves them from decomposing. Residents of Damanak trade with almost everything, but above all you can get the best prices for gems and enchanted weapons, most of which are crafted in Damanak. These weapons, mostly swords, have a gem in the handle, and their enchanted blades cause additional fire or acid damage.
Residents of Damanak often talk in inns about how Krimago visited the distant Haunted Forest. The forest is made mostly of Vortes trees. Ghosts live in these trees and occasionally get out scaring visitors, mostly orcs with axes who sometimes chop their trees. Krimago entered the forest because he was looking for black mushrooms to create a magic potion. He cast a divination spell to find the mushrooms. The spell reveals location of unknown objects, particularly objects in the vicinity. He sees the location of some black mushroom in his mind, but he also sees blurry treasure hidden in a Mordas tree. Mordas is a rare tree, with fat and hollow trunk. Krimago said how he started walking towards the Mordas tree, but suddenly ghosts appeared in front of him and he ran away. These ghosts have one but powerful magic that can make even white wizards to run away in panic. When he regained his composure, Krimago came across hostile pigmy mummies, armed with daggers. These mummies don’t represent a big threat for wizards as their magic can easily repel them, but they’re rather dangerous adversaries for others when they attack in group. I’d like to stress that Damanak’s lore talks about above ghosts, pigmy mummies, and, most of all, about the mysterious treasure inside the Mordas tree.
Another wizard, Ardabal, who is capable of making himself invisible, enters the Haunted Forest while hidden in shadows to look for black mushrooms. Since he is already there and invisible, he decides to search for the treasure. Ardabal didn’t find the tree, just some stumps, but it’s possible that he missed the tree in the pretty large forest or that orcs chopped it. The wizard also sees many bones of mostly adventuring men, who were searching for the treasure. Speaking of adventurers, the wizard comes across a mighty creature, Talaron, bloodthirsty and always hungry, feasting on the flesh of an adventurer. He is tall but agile creature who wields a giant axe, and attacks men and orcs only, so that he can eat them. This is why men and orcs say that they have something in common, namely, that they are food for Talaron. He also possesses powerful magic that can hold you frozen in place, which makes him even more dangerous. Ardabal thinks to himself that if adventures knew of Talaron’s presence, perhaps only the bravest would enter the Haunted Forest. Being wise and having a hunch, Ardabal casts a spell that allows him to see some parts of the past that occurred in the forest. In his vision, he sees a blurry person with unintelligible voice, a greedy person, resident of Damanak, interested in being as rich as he can be. This person knew what the forest’s treasure is, and he has been to the forest more than once. Ardabal thinks about it all, particularly about these bits of pieces of information he gathered in his vision. Ardabal didn’t find the treasure, but he realized what the treasure is that adventurers were looking for. Can you explain it?

Hmmm... Lets assume the currency is worth something because there is a limited number of Pontil trees, then treasure would be something equivalent to the printing press for western currency. So I would think that for Damanak, where money grows on the Pontil tree, the treasure would be a cache of Pontil tree fruit or even more valuable would be the Pontil tree seeds themselves

It doesn’t explain Ardabal’s realization.
Btw, there are Pontil trees in Pontil forest only, as it is illegal to grow Pontil trees elsewhere. The forest is heavily guarded by Latorn’s men, and the penalty for trespassing is death.

OK if we go by what Ardabal realization, he sees that only the bravest enter the forest which all have one thing in common: their precious weapon with a nice gem in handle. The Talaron can digests everything including sword except the gems and excretes these in his hollow toilet, the Mordas tree!

Yes, the treasure is enchanted weapons. The treasure was brought by adventurers who were searching for it. Krimago lied when he said that he saw a treasure in the Mordas tree. He also deliberately didn’t mention Talaron, only ghosts and pigmy mummies, so that Talaron kills the adventurers for him. Since Talaron doesn’t attack wizards, Krimago visited Haunted Forest more than once to take adventurer’s valued, enchanted weapons, and sell them in Damanak.

Talaron doesn’t eat swords nor poop in the Mordas tree. Instead, he poops all over the forest.
