A MAN SEES HIS ACQUAINTANCE AFTER A LONG TIME CRYING IN THE STREET. YET THE MAN KNOWS THAT THE SAD WOMAN HAS HOPE. HOW? NO OBJECTS OR OTHER CHARACTERS HAVE A ROLE IN THE RIDDLE.

Another idea:
The woman dislikes the man very much. When she sees him in her street, she starts crying assuming that he is living in this neighbourhood. But the man knows he is just here in transit. So he knows there is hope for her.
