A Raise 3: Mission Impossible

A turnkey has a riddle for his new young apprentice. In the store he places three different keys on the desk and asks him: “Which key out of the three opens the door to the store? You have the right to touch/use one of these keys only in order to try it out. If you answer correctly, the spare key is yours and also a raise. I’ll give you a bit of a hint too (or is it friendly banter?): By utilizing pure logic I am certain that you can arrive at the answer.”

Maybe two of the keys have the same sort of cross-section? Which would mean either they both fit in the lock, but with only one allowing you to turn it, or the third key is the right one.
Or maybe the key that's not in the middle or on the left is the right one.

So they're different not just in the sense that they don't unlock the same lock?
Well, then just visual inspection of the locks and the key is sufficient. Given that one key will work, you don't even need to try one.

This is the correct answer. Sorry towr for the delay. Slow brain. I had another idea which is not a valid one, considering the way the riddle is worded. So, two keys open the door to the store, not just one, forwhy one belongs to the turnkey, and one is the spare key - for the apprentice. Hmm.
