Title: Stolen Painting
Post by Kitty on Apr 28th, 2003, 8:43am
A painting has been stolen from a museum. The suspects are:

The museum manager,
his wife,
the cleaner and
two visitors.

Who did it? Why? and How?

Okay. This is suppost to be easyish (but still be carefull). It is a weird kind of what happened as it is a crime with suspects. You have to find what happened by asking the suspects, looking in there pockets, looking at the of the crime, whatever really.

e.g.

You ask: I ask the manager where he was at the time of the crime.

I said: The manager says that he was asleep as the crime was at midnight

Is the information given in the example true?  i.e. the crime happened at midnight.

Can I 'observe' whether there are opening times posted anywhere?

Scene of the crime?

The paiting has disappeared from its stand. There is alot of dust around. You find a broom lying a few meters from where the painting was.

I ask the manager where the janitor was at the time of the crime. If he is good then it shouldn't have been dusty.

THe manager says he does not know.

You can ask the janitor himself.

hint:[hide] Maybe someone was framing the cleaner, No? [/hide]

I would like to ask the manager how his wife was in bed on that night, then I would like to ask his wife the same question of him.

I now ask, with this new knowledge, the cleaner if he is having an affair with the manager's wife.

The cleaner says "It is true but don't tell my boss, plez."

I'd like to ask the manager if he know about his wife's affair with the cleaner. Seeing as the janitor really didn't want him to know, I just feel he needs his bubble popped.

The manager say he knows but his wife does not know that he knows.

Wow, this starting to sound like a soap opera. :) Well my question to the visitors is where were they on the night of the crime? And secondly do the visitors know the manager, wife,or cleaner? [hide]At this point I think the manager did it to frame the cleaner.[/hide]

Visitor 1 is the sister of the cleaner. She says she was at a nightclub that night.

Visitor 2 is an old deaf man who does not understand what the heck your saying.  ;D

I write down on a sheet of paper: Where were you on the night that the painting was stolen. Then I ask to see what is in the pockets of all of them?

I'd like to ask the manager and his wife what their keys are to, seperately.

Title: Re: Stolen Painting
Post by Kitty on May 7th, 2003, 1:10pm
Manager: keys for car, home, office in museum, the cases showing stuff in the museum and keys to the alarms in museum

Wife: home and car

You guys are getting there. You got the main point now try and add them together.

Well I would continue by asking if the dust around the painting were ashes from the managers cigarettes. But I think I can figure it out: [hide] Here goes holmes, the manager has framed the cleaner because he found out that his wife was having an affair with the cleaning man. So on the night of the stealing the manager with his keys got in and took the painting. While smoking a cigarett, which left ashes that look like dust. He also planted the broom in the room with him while he took it to make it look like the cleaner was the culprit. The manager has motive the wife, cleaner, cleaners sister and the other old man don't. But of course I could be completely wrong. Anyone else have sherlock guess? [/hide] ;)

theory 1

[hide]the thief was non other then sister o janiter because she knew that the janitor and the hoe was having an affair so she planted the cigarette ashes beside the painting. (to frame manager) the janitor saw this while cleaning so he dropped his broom and went to tell the police on the way there. he thought well she is my sister so he went back to her and she told him what she was doing and then he said ok so i can score with the boss wife and let her go but  he forgot the broom he droped [/hide] problem solved  :P

theory 2

[hide]it was the deaf man its always the handicapped one!![/hide]
this one sounds more reasonable then the rest

theory 3
[hide]jon g theory[/hide]

theory 4
[hide]it was the wife she framed the the managed with the cig  ashes on the painting but the janitor caught her dropped the broom and ran away in dis-beleif not telling anyone because he is also a suspect and the manager would say she was in bed and the wife would also say that[/hide]

theory 5
[hide]they were all in on it ecept for the deaf man and they wanted to frame the deaf man because there all cruel and heartless and take advantage of handicaped people[/hide]

i think it theory 2

I would ask the Manager & Janitor & Wife & other guys these Questions:

'Have you seen anything/anyone suspicious around here?'
'Did you always had your stuff in your pockets/purse, Becouse someone MIGHT have stolen your stuff and putten back!'

Then i would like to see the keys and look for fingerprints.

Then i would go outside and look for anything broken or leaven behind.
