Title: Non-Routine Stop
Post by maryl on Jun 12th, 2003, 8:03am
Two police officers approach a vehicle on the street. One approaches from the side door, the other from an angle. The officer approaching from an angle is closer to the vehicle than the other officer, and notices that there is a RAT behind the wheel! After jumping back a few paces initially in shock, (though not thinking it serious enough to draw his weapon), and bringing it to the other officer’s attention, the officers resume approach, asking for the license and registration for the car. The driver gives a smile, takes his hand off the wheel, and holds out the requested items. The officers again jump back and one says: “Is that a big piece of cheese stuck between your front teeth?” The driver says nothing, but has his little eyes focused on the officers as he tries to close his mouth over his huge front teeth. After checking the documents, the driver drives off and the police go their way.

Even though the driver wasn't a man dressed in a rat costume (in case that's what you were thinking), neither of the officers made a big deal about actually seeing a rat behind the wheel of the car! Why not?

How about...
[hide]The rat is not behind the steering wheel, it is behind one of the wheels of the car (on the ground).  As for the cheese, the guy just has a thing for well-aged cheddar and didn't brush before leaving home.  And don't make fun of his overgrown incisors -- he gets a hard enough time from the other kids at school.[/hide]

I don't suppose that sounds special enough to actually be right, though...

Great lateral thinking Zeke!
