Title: Boots
Post by maryl on Jun 17th, 2003, 3:05pm
Rhythmic breathing pushes you forward as the scenery glides past. You have a long ways to go but concentration is on your side. It is the only thing separating you from the pain in your feet. Freakin new boots, you shoulda left them in the car. You've got other boots but the boots you've got on are too heavy to carry and the scenery is too sparse to hide them. How can you ensure that if you leave them you won't lose them?

1. A question: why would I loose them? Why not leave them in plain sight, and come back for them later? Are you affraid of someone taking them, or forgating where they are?

2. A suggested solution: ::[hide]Dig a hole; Place boots in hole; cover hole; mark in a way that you'll recognize, but others will concider natural.[/hide]::

[hide]if they're to heavy to cary, then nobody will be carrying them off anyhow..
But how can you walk in them if they are so heavy?[/hide]

Hmm, I guess you could leave them at a distance from one another, and hope that the sly wippersnapper won't bother with a single boot........ or will he?

Another possibility, where you won't have to leave the boots behind, is to use the laces to tie them around your ankles. You may not be able to carry them but, if you can wear them, I would expect that you could drag them.

Of course they'd get a bit scuffed  :-/

Wouldn't a sly whippersnapper be quite curious about a single boot lying around somewhere?  And if she was of the taking type, wouldn't she search very hard to find the other boot which MUST be lying around somewhere, since no one ever leaves just 1 boot anywhere?

Of course, there is still the curious case of occasionally seeing a single sock, shoe, or pair of underwear along the side of the road.  One wonders how those events happen (though I've never been the kind to investigate further, unless I'm getting low on undies and its not wash day yet...) ;)

I don't think a passing dog with a liking for footwear would have any conniptions about taking a single boot...
