5 people are in the street in pouring rain but any four of get wet.

Why did not the fifth person get wet?

(This is riddle has two classic answers try and find both)

Perhaps [hide]one of the four people who got wet is a pregnant woman and the fifth person is her unborn child[/hide]?

Or [hide]they're queuing up for a shop to open and the (fifth) person at the front is able to shelter in the doorway from the pouring rain[/hide]?

Unlucky guys then! I've been a pallbearer a couple times, and 4 people are not enough (maybe for a child they would be). Coffins are heavy!

One person is standing in the sewer, underneath the manhole. It's a big sewer and the water level is low even with the rain.

Or, it could be like that fairy tale where some guy is able to dodge raindrops and tricks a witch into the rain where she melts.

Well the answers were [hide]unborn child[/hide]and [hide] coiffin [/hide] but Icarus does have a point, would 7 people work better?
