Title: No way out Post by alien2 on Jan 19th, 2014, 5:32am A fatigued man jumps in a deep river fleeing the five hungry wolves that are pursuing him. There is another pack of five hungry wolves on the other side of the river. All of the ten wolves want to taste man flesh, but they don't dare to enter the river. There is a waterfall in the course of the river three dozen meters downstream. The current is taking him slowly towards the waterfall. If he were to plunge down the waterfall, the fall would undoubtedly end his life. The banks of both sides of the river are not steep. Nobody is in the vicinity. Nothing could divert the wolves' attention or scare them away. There are no trees or rocks that he could use and no other objects or animals have a role in the riddle. He manages to save himself. How? |

Title: Re: No way out Post by Grimbal on Jan 21st, 2014, 2:55am He went upstream? The wolves want to taste man flesh. OK, just let them have a bite and they are happy. |

Title: Re: No way out Post by alien2 on Jan 29th, 2014, 8:52am I guess I should've mentioned in the riddle that there is no [hide]river bifurcation[/hide]. |

Title: Re: No way out Post by gotit on Feb 3rd, 2014, 9:18am He was dreaming. He woke up. He drank the river water and obtained super powers. He then flew away. The wolves got the scent of other human beings and went away. ;D |

Don't know much about wolves, except that I'm afraid of them, but maybe fresh feces would attract them like flies because dinner has to be near. on 02/04/14 at 06:57:32, gotit wrote:
Stop coming up with fine alternative answers Gotit! If you come up with yet another alternative answer, I will abstain from adding another post to this topic. I'm not kidding. |

Title: Re: No way out Post by aaragn on Feb 4th, 2014, 10:28am He approaches one shore, carefully bites off a tip of his finger (or something else that's expendable) and throws it to the wolves. Now, the wolves were previously strained on Albatross Island and in order to survive were served what they were told was man's flesh, but was really albatross. Seeing that wolves hold albatrosses in high esteem, they realise now that they were tricked and commit suicide out of shame. |

Title: Re: No way out Post by towr on Feb 6th, 2014, 1:02pm Do you mean literally or religiously? :P Maybe praying real hard will help save his soul. Although, the riddle says he saves himself. So then he'd have to be Jesus, but if he's Jesus, then he could just walk on water. [hide]Maybe he can just climb down the waterfall, rather then plunge.[/hide] |

Title: Re: No way out Post by Grimbal on Feb 11th, 2014, 10:16am We are getting cold... The water will freeze. Not good... The man throws a bone down the waterfall and before they realize what they are doing, the 10 wolves jump down to their deaths. Or the man make a doll with his jacket and let it float down the river followed by the wolves. Or the five wolves on the one side chased him, but the wolves on the other side are in a zoo. The man just goes to the zoo and has a nice time eating ice cream while watching the monkeys. |
