A woman walks North away from her destination, stands still for a few minutes, then continues to walk North until she reaches her destination. What happened?

Or her dog is called North.

The 'dog called North' answer is not one I had thought of, but it fits the riddle exceptionally well.  Nice work Grimbal and alien2! 10/10.  If I get a dog, I will consider calling it 'North'.

gotit - sadly, if you continue to walk North, you probably won't make it around the World in any amount of time - even if you could hold you breath long enough for the ocean parts.

alien2 - The walking machine answer is closer to my intended answer, but I don't think it works - how would she reach her destination?
