Title: Going up or down? Post by alien2 on Sep 19th, 2015, 6:54am An intelligent and open-eyed man in topnotch health prepares to go straight to his girlfriend. He lives on the 15th floor of a 30-story building. She lives in a secluded house. He steps out of his flat and enters an elevator on the 15th floor. The elevator is in perfect order. He presses the 30th button. Why? |

Title: Re: Going up or down? Post by rloginunix on Sep 19th, 2015, 8:06am Because [hide]the ordinal position of an item (button) in a list and the item's contents (floor number) are two different things[/hide]? In other words [hide]the button's position in this particular cabin of this particular elevator may be "30" (if/when somehow counted) but the number of the floor in this building this cabin will go to when that button is pressed is "1"[/hide]? |
