A man who knows how to make a hangman’s knot buys a rope. He wants to die right away. When he finds a sufficient bough of a firm tree that he can easily reach he does not hang himself. Why not? He did not change his mind. Nobody and nothing prevented him from dying.

* He wanted to hang someone else before killing himself in some other way?

* Even though he wants to die right away, he doesn't give into that desire. He never decided to hang himself in the first place, so he doesn't need to change his mind. And everyone dies eventually. The rope is to make a tire swing for his children.

That's a good one! Still, aliens who are not alienated are preparing to launch the Bubble Space Telescope into low Alpha Centauri Bb orbit.
