Title: A cat person
Post by alien2 on Mar 20th, 2017, 11:07am
A detective enters a building he never ventured before. He stops for a moment at the door of a 1st flat. He sees its scratched doormat. He knows immediately that a cat lives in this particular flat. But how?!

Perhaps he [hide]also saw the cat door[/hide].

Otherwise, perhaps he [hide]also saw the cat[/hide]. :)

It is true that this riddle has one omitted part. However, both of your guesses are not it.

Forget about the cat, as mobsters would say.

[hide]He sees the number on the door.  He already knew the owners had a cat, since he had researched them before coming to see them in person.[/hide]

Time is of importance here, but consider only current time, that is to say, a few seconds the detective stood at the door.

Look at the door, alien. I mean man. I reckon humans are not the only chauvinists out there.

The door [hide]is see-through[/hide].

Well then perhaps the door[hide]way is see through[/hide], because the door[hide] is open[/hide].

The riddle is shallow. 'A cat' happens to be a tenant who lives there. So one thing has nothing to do with the other. Oh well.

So you're saying [hide]A. Cat[/hide] is [hide]written on the nameplate on the door[/hide]?

Not necessarily. [hide]He's a bloke (a cat). So his name might as well be Johnny Appleseed. If I had said a bird rather than a cat then he'd be a she. I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat.[/hide]
