I'm reading this English play, a scene set in 1956. It's a comedy in two acts.

She: Damn.
He: What?
She: It's my merry widow.
He: Your what?
She: Mery widow. It mashes you in and pushes you out in all the right places. But it cuts off all circulation so you can't breath.

What on earth is this american lady talking about?
Please help me out, since I'm traying to translate this play into my own language.

I would guess it's a sort of corset..
That also seems to correspond to about 5-6% of the references on google.

Of course, a corset. Brilliant, Towr. Reading the context that must be the only right answer to my question. Thanks a lot.
I did check Google before asking here, but couldn't figure out why Google came up with links to lingery sites. Now I know. Thanks again. I love the fast respons and will be back when ever I have questions relating to the English language.
