Now for a slightly harder one. Most often a man who destroys another For a man on the waves, righteous brother A meal's mixed greenery, one type thereof Much danger below, great ship's above Partner to weak spot of Grecian fame For the first to be born is called this name When made of wood, the first of vampire When tasting good, above's mother and fire Line them up first to last Their heads alone and juxtaposed View these ends from last to first Third and second now transposed

To be fair, I suppose I should post this hint: I have previously posted a riddle of this type on the site. Unfortunately, the riddler who solved that one has been absent for some time. I'm sure someone else can figure it out though.

Well, I would figure the following: Looks like the architecture of the riddle is the 4 couplets are mini-riddles with separate answers. From these, working through the last section, we then take the first letter/syllable - the "head" - of each, and reorganise them in the order, I believe, 4,2,3,1, to obtain the final answer. The third couplet seems to relate to Achilles Heel (weakspot of Grecian fame), but as it's the partner to it, maybe "Ankle" is the answer for that one. Not really making inroads on the others yet, though.

The first stanza reminds me of Voldemort, but I doubt this is what you're looking for.

Hmmm, I think devil would be a tad too obvious. Not to mention it doesn't agree with what I was already thinking of for final with the title in mind (pony).

Pony actually fits most of it that I can see... "destroyer of one"-might be a reference to say the Christopher Reeve accident, etc

I meant pony as a final answer, not for the first stanza.

I know what you meant, I just didn't have the time to connect it to all the others... (was in a hurry to go somewhere) I can make it fit just about everything.

I'll just throw down the random thoughts I had a few days ago when I read it; maybe someone can make something of them. I mentioned earlier that I thought Oedipus was involved. This name means swollen feet, or something like that, which could compare with Achilles' heel (the "weak spot of Grecian fame") of the third stanza. Finally, the fourth stanza alludes to "above's mother", which could be Oedipus' mother Jocasta, who commited suicide when she was "under fire" of having had relations with her husband and son.

Sorry for the delayed response. I was off in the wilderness and without internet for several days. Anyway, pony is incorrect. I don't see a case for an alternate either.

Well, certainly according to some legends/mythologies relating to vampires, Cain was the first. However, I haven't been able to synch this up with any of the rest, hence why I haven't mentioned this up until now...
