The closer to a desired destination, the farther you are from it. From what, exactly?

This adequate riddle is my redemption for the previous riddle ("The Three Musketeers? I Think Not!") . . . Now that puts The Shawshank Redemption in perspective! Or does it?

No silly answers please. Thank You for your cooperation. Then again, silly answers can be fun. Hmm . . .

Happy New Year!

Getting closer to the new year gets you further of the last one.  Not sure "destination" is the right word though.

The intended answer is cast in the same mold and is a very simple one. Perhaps too simple, maybe even patronizing, but it does go with "destination".

Is it the other side (e.g. of the road)?

Not what I had in mind. May Mao Tse-tung, and Star Trek: Voyager, put you on the right track.

The horizon?  Procrastination?  Midnight?  Overseas?  Far?  Where The Grass Is Greener?  Your starting point?  The possibility to miss the destination?  Am I getting close?  Or am I still far from it?

Yes. Or more poetically, the beginning of a journey. Lame, eh? Or maybe just cute and lovely.
